Mättinge – a place for community and inclusion

Mättinge is a scenic course and camp facility located south of Stockholm, surrounded by the beautiful Swedish countryside and the Trosa archipelago. The facility is designed with accessibility in mind, meaning it is adapted to meet the needs of everyone, regardless of mobility challenges or disabilities. Among others, RBU (The Swedish National Association for Disabled Children and Young People) organizes camps and courses here, as the accessible environment ensures that both common areas and accommodations are suitable for all participants.

Mättinge is set in beautiful natural surroundings where outdoor life takes center stage, while also offering a wide range of activities and opportunities for relaxation. Along the accessible paths in the area, visitors can reach the beach—even with a wheelchair. The beach lies in a bay and features boats, a boathouse, jetty, fishing hut, hot tub, and sauna, all available for visitors to enjoy.

There are also several barbecue areas, and behind the wood-fired sauna guests can sit down and unwind. The facility also includes an indoor pool, training and activity rooms, as well as common areas. Its infrastructure enables people with different needs to fully participate in a variety of activities, making Mättinge an ideal place for learning, socializing, play, and recreation for everyone.

Mättinge’s vision is to deliver unforgettable experiences, while at the same time offering activities that encourage the exchange of experiences and social interaction for people with special needs.

Everyone should feel free to move about the entire area—indoors, outdoors, and across the different accommodation options—without barriers.

“The donation from Guldmann means that accessibility adaptations can now be taken to the next level, enabling us to welcome even more visitors. The improved accessibility will make our guests feel more independent and safe during their stay, increasing both their comfort and their opportunity to take part in all the activities we offer,” says Ulric Björken from Mättinge course center, and continues:

“This will not only improve the experience for our current guests but also attract new visitors who might otherwise have hesitated to book due to capacity limitations. In the long run, this gives us the opportunity to grow, increase our capacity, and continue offering first-class service and experiences for all our guests.”
