Installation Technician

Objective
The Installation Technician is responsible for the installation of ceiling lift systems in all types of healthcare facilities. In addition, he/she will support the team with warehouse duties, inventory reconciliation, and technical service calls with customers.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complete on-site installations, commissioning and coordination of patient lift systems.
  • Receiving and organizing materials at customer sites and Guldmann warehouses
  • Coordinate installations with Project Coordinator/Manager
  • Cut, drill, assemble and install all lift system components as required by Guldmann installation procedures and techniques
  • Load tests the installed track and tests operation of lift equipment
  • Organize removal of equipment and tools when installation work is complete
  • Complete the appropriate documentation upon completion of installation and testing, ensuring all paperwork is submitted in a timely manner
  • Work in coordination with the local Project Manager to organize and plan installation trips out of town
  • Liaise with the project manager to advise of daily site progress and work through any issues encountered
  • All other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience in construction, building, hardware, installations, electro-mechanical systems is required
  • Background in building construction desired
  • Exposure to different structure types (concrete, steel, wood, etc.) is desired
  • Exposure to ‘Patient Lift systems’ in healthcare facilities is desired
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electromechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and room layouts
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to assemble hardware & components
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience is desired
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout Canada and work out of town for periods up to 3 weeks out of the month.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and supply clean drivers abstract

Physical & Mental Requirements
Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls.
