Introduction - environmental policy

The object of this environmental statement is to give our stakeholders information about the environmental issues and the present environmental management at V. Guldmann A/S.

Guldmann is continuously working towards ensuring that the company's impact on the environment on both a local and global scale is reduced to a minimum.

To a large extent, environmental awareness is a question of simple common sense. Saving energy and materials is also a good economic way of thinking in both the long and the short run. By constantly optimising our production processes to avoid resource waste and pollution, we also achieve financial and competitive advantages.

It is Guldmann's goal to:

• Comply with the current environmental legislation
• Ensure that we employ environmentally correct materials and processes in close collaboration with our suppliers
• Continuously minimise the relative waste quantity and emission as well as ensure that the company recycles as much as possible
• Continuously improve the internal working environment
• Ensure that our products do not have an unnecessary negative impact on the environment regarding use, recirculation or disposal
• Ensure that our products contribute to a positive working environment in the places they are utilised.

V. Guldmann A/S has chosen not to be environmentally certified. The company is categorised as a category 2 company cf. the Danish Environmental Protection Agency's categoric system. Annual inspections are made by the Department for Nature and Environment from the Municipality of Aarhus using the Danish Environmental Protection Act, section 42 as a reference.

Environmental action plan for 2013

Energy – internal

• Investigate the possibility to install sun panels for producing electricity on our premises in Skejby
• Register the fuel consumption for the company's assembly and service vehicles with the view of identifying potential savings.
• Replace SAN system in server room with newer technology. WE expect the energy consumptions will be reduced to half of today.
• Isolating of wall at goods reception.
• Establish a door beside the gate where goods are loaded. This will reduce the need of opening the gate. 

Packaging

• Change the way two aluminums parts for GH1 and GH3 hoist and packed today.
• Review the packaging for ramps.

Status for 2012

Energy – internal

• Investigate the possibility to install sun panels for producing electricity on our premises in Skejby. We got an offer, and further investigations and calculations have to take place.
• Register the fuel consumption for the company's assembly and service vehicles with the view of identifying potential savings. Moved to 2013.
   

Packaging

• Review packing for GH1 and GH3 hoist and packing of purchased parts for same hoist with the aim to reduce the content of packing material. Finished. The result is app. sawing´s of 4,4 ton cardboard pr. year.
• Review the packaging of selected products, including ramps, lifting platforms and slings to find alternative packaging to cardboard. Finished on lifting platforms and slings. Cardboard is replaced by plastic folio. The result is app. sawing´s of 2 ton cardboard pr. year. Investigate alternative packing for ramps will continue in 2013.
• Investigate if we can set up a 'flex' workshop for the repair of wooden pallets in order to increase the recycling of pallets and reduce waste. Analyze is finished and show a marginal advantaged by sorting and repair pallets. Not relevant. Project is stopped.
   

Other

• We plan to decide whether the company should join the UN Global Compact Convention. The advantaged and drawbacks by joining UN Global Compact has been analysed. We have desided not to join Convention. The main reason is that we don’t like to use internal resources to maintaining and reporting. Furthermore we like to be independent. We still support the ten principles and continue to act according to them in our daily business.
